What Happened to Aaron Jones? Vikings RB Heads to Medical Tent Early in Week 16 vs Giants

The Minnesota Vikings got off to a solid start in their Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, taking an early lead. However, the positive start was briefly interrupted by an injury scare involving one of their most important offensive players.

Running back Aaron Jones went down with an apparent injury early in the first quarter and had to be escorted to the sideline for evaluation, and was also seen heading into the medical tent.

The injury occurred during the opening drive of the game, with Jones appearing to suffer some discomfort that required immediate attention from the medical staff. While the exact nature of the injury wasn’t immediately disclosed, the medical staff gave immediate attention to mitigate Jones’ injury.

Fortunately for Minnesota, the news turned out to be much better than initially feared.

Reporter Ahmad Hicks provided an encouraging update from the sideline, noting that Jones had emerged from the medical tent with both his ankles taped. Jones was also seen jogging up and down the sideline, preparing for a potential return to the game.

Jones has been a crucial part of Minnesota’s offense this season, and as of Week 15, he’s accumulated 410 rushing yards and 181 receiving yards, while also accumulating two total touchdowns so far this campaign.

Vikings Lead Giants 3–0 Early in Second Quarter

After winning the coin toss, the Minnesota-based side chose to receive initially, and the game itself got off to an unusual start when rookie kicker Ben Sauls kicked the opening kickoff out of bounds in his first moment as an NFL player, giving Minnesota excellent field position.

The Vikings capitalized on that mistake by driving 35 yards on nine plays, scoring the first three points of the game, and settling for a 43-yard field goal after Jordan Addison dropped what could have been a touchdown pass.

The Vikings still lead the game with a scoreline of 0-3 against the New York-based team with a little over 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
