Trey Benson Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Cardinals RB Status Ahead of Week 10

Running back Trey Benson has had an up-and-down season for the Arizona Cardinals. When he has been in the lineup, he has had some strong performances. However, he has only played four games, totalling 29 carries for 160 yards. He has not played since suffering a knee injury against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 25.

    What Happened to Trey Benson?

In his fourth game of the season, against the Seattle Seahawks, Trey Benson went down with a knee injury. He has not returned to the lineup since. He was placed on the injured reserve shortly after. NFL rules state that players placed on the injured reserve cannot return to the lineup until they have missed four games. The upcoming game against the Seahawks in Week 10 is the first game he is eligible to return in.

Will Trey Benson Play Week 10?

As things stand on Wednesday, the Arizona coaching staff has not said that Trey Benson will return. Fans will likely get an indication of his status based on his practice designations this week. However, head coach Jonathan Gannon did indicate that Benson is getting better on Saturday.

He’s doing well. He’s getting better.

    Trey Benson Fantasy Outlook

The Arizona Cardinals have been plagued by running back injuries this season. Trey Benson’s injury put the team in a difficult position as backups Emari Demercado and Bam Knight were forced into larger roles than expected. While they have performed well at times, Benson should get his starting role back when he returns to the lineup.

Benson’s fantasy outlook for the season looks good. When he returns, he should get the largest snap share among running backs. The coaching staff seems optimistic about his future, so fantasy owners should be as well.

Fantasy Replacements If Trey Benson Misses Week 10

If Trey Benson does not return this week, there should still be plenty of options on the waiver wire. If you want to stick with a player on the Cardinals, Emari Demercado should be a solid option. Devin Singletary on the New York Giants should also be available in most leagues and should get a larger snap count with Cam Skattebo out.
