Earlier this year, in May, on the occasion of Father’s Day, Hunter Sr. expressed pride over his son’s achievements as he was selected second overall by the Jaguars, months after being named the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner after a stellar season with the Colorado Rockies.
“It means a lot because most dads don’t get the opportunity to be in this position,” Hunter Sr. said. “So it means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to him because he dreamed about playing in the NFL. You know, I got to be here for it, and I’ve got his back in whatever he wants to do. He was living his dream. Keep it real, he was living his dream. I know he ain’t going to stop until he feels like he’s finished playing football.”

Travis Hunter’s Father Was Granted Special Permission To Attend 2025 NFL Draft
Travis Hunter’s father, Travis Hunter Sr., was serving probation and under home confinement due to prior legal issues from a 2023 arrest involving gun and drug charges, before the 2025 NFL Draft.
A Florida judge granted him special permission to attend the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay with his son despite these restrictions.
After the 2025 NFL draft, Hunter Sr. was arrested again in July 2025 for allegedly violating his probation.
On the football front, Travis Hunter caught 28 receptions for 298 receiving yards and 1 touchdown, while averaging 10.6 yards per reception. The two-way star suffered a significant knee injury (LCL) in late 2025 and underwent season-ending surgery. Hunter is expected to rehab and target a return for 2026.
