The Baltimore Ravens came into their Thanksgiving showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals as the clear favorites, especially with Lamar Jackson back in the lineup after being out for weeks due to injury. However, the two-time NFL MVP looked nothing like his usual self as he struggled in that 32-14 loss against Cincinnati.
Jackson had two fumbles, one interception and a total of three turnovers, with a 53.1% completion rate against the Bengals for just 246 yards. This was against a team known for having one of the worst defenses in the league, and fans just made fun of him with a bunch of memes at his expense:
While the Ravens themselves have seemingly been revitalized by his return, Jackson himself has struggled for the last few weeks, since returning from injury. While his teammates were playing well, Jackson himself did not.
Lamar Jackson Was Dealing With Several Injuries Ahead Of Thanksgiving Showdown Vs. Bengals
As for Jackson, he had been playing hurt, appearing on the team’s injury report earlier this week and drawing concern from fans. Over the last three weeks, he had been dealing with various injuries, including knee soreness, an ankle injury and a toe injury, with him missing practices because of each of these. These various injuries have many questioning if he could still play at a higher level, a narrative that Jackson himself has rejected:
“No, I just got to be more consistent,” he said. “I got to make those throws. I don’t miss them in practice, so I shouldn’t be missing them in the game.”
The Ravens are still in the playoff picture, but that loss on Thursday did hurt them. Even if they do make it, though, Jackson himself has yet to step up.
