Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt has been out for a while now, with him currently languishing in the injured reserve. With the Steelers lacking one of their best offensive linemen, many fans and Fantasy managers are wondering when he will come back to the field.
As the Playoffs draw closer, the Steelers need Watt’s services more than ever. However, it seems that there is more to his condition than what many people think, and it seems that his return has run into some complications, making his comeback a lot muddier than before.
What Happened To T. J. Watt?
TJ Watt suffered a collapsed lung, and had to get surgery around two weeks ago. This meant that his return is not expected anytime soon. However, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly reported that the story is a lot more complicated, but he did not provide any further details.
“There’s more to the story,” the insider said during a radio program appearance. “It might not be what you think it is.”
SPN’s Adam Schefter has also reported that Watt is expected to get re-evaluated by doctors before the Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, but so far, nothing is clear about what his actual condition right now is.
How Did T. J. Watt Get A Collapsed Lung?
According to several sources, J.J. Watt suffered that collapsed lung due to a dry needling accident. This is a kind of therapy to cure knots in someone’s muscles by getting them poked by needles, which is like acupuncture but a bit different, though Watt’s session went wrong. As for Kaboly’s report, it is unclear if the complication is about Watt’s current condition or the dry needling incident itself.
Is T. J. Watt Playing Week 16?
With there being complications and Watt himself set to be re-evaluated, he might not be playing in Week 16. There is still a possibility, but a collapsed lung may have some life-threatening implications, so the team might want to play it safe and not play him at all. He has already been listed as “out” for Week 16 as well.
