“Titans Faking an Injury to Tank the Draft”: Fans Left Confused After Injured Cam Ward Heads to Locker Room

Cam Ward took a 7-0 lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars in a matchup with division-altering stakes. The contest could leave Jacksonville at risk of falling all the way to the seventh seed. There is surely no better way Tennessee’s season could end than by disrupting their rival.

However, while Titans fans had reason to celebrate the lead-earning touchdown, they were given a proportionately bad sight. Ward appeared to get injured on the touchdown run and was forced into the blue medical tent. The quarterback then headed to the locker room.

NFL fans online were left confused by the sight, asking whether Tennessee or the quarterback was tanking to help its draft pick positioning.

“Yeah, that one didn’t look great. You hate seeing a guy walk off like that, especially after taking a clean hit,” one fan posted.

“Just sit him. Stupid to allow him to get hurt,” one scolded.

“Titans faking an injury to tank in the draft. Well done 🫡,” another accused.

More fans reacted to the injury, including one urging Ward’s team to intentionally give up on the game.

“Seriously? Dang. Hope it’s nothing serious,” another hoped.

“Uh oh. I hope it’s not serious. The Titans need him for the playoffs,” one added sarcastically.

“Injury aside, great rookie year for Cam. Now let’s tank properly and build around him.💪,” another asked Tennessee.

Heading into the contest, Ward had thrown for 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions, earning 3,117 passing yards and completing 59.6% of his throws.

Tennessee Titans Implode In First Half Without Cam Ward

After Cam Ward was taken out, backup Brandon Allen took over the quarterback duties. The backup threw an interception not long after Ward’s exit, helping to catapult the Jacksonville Jaguars to an explosive lead.

At one point near the end of the half, Jacksonville was up 28-7, erasing Tennessee’s 7-0 lead almost instantly. With everything on the line for Trevor Lawrence’s team, the quarterback has shown out.

Heading into Week 18, there were scenarios for Jacksonville to get up to the No. 1 seed via losses from the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots. However, there were also scenarios in which losing could take the team to the edge of the playoff race with the seventh seed. A win was everything, and Tennessee dug itself a big hole in part due to Ward’s unfortunate injury.
