“Pat Will Be Back”: Shady McCoy Spells End For Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs Dynasty After Crushing 31-28 Loss vs Dallas

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs walked into Thanksgiving night needing a win to regain control of their season. Instead, they walked out of AT&T Stadium with a stinging 31–28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The loss has pushed them to 6–6 and raised louder questions about whether Kansas City’s dominant run is finally slipping away. Former Chiefs running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy weighed in immediately after the defeat.

He acknowledged that Kansas City’s stretch of deep playoff pushes and Super Bowl dominance wasn’t meant to last forever. In his words, even the Tom Brady-era Patriots had years where they took a step back before rising again.

McCoy closed his post with reassurance for Chiefs fans, saying Mahomes would return to form and that setbacks like this don’t erase greatness.

“Even the Patriots with Brady took a break during the dynasty years … Pat will be back,” he wrote on X.

The loss itself did plenty to fuel the talk around a potential stall in the Chiefs’ dynasty arc. Mahomes threw four touchdowns and kept Kansas City alive with late-game heroics, but the defense struggled to contain Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

Kansas City now finds itself on thin ice. A .500 record this deep into the season is unfamiliar territory for a team used to chasing the top seed in the AFC. The pressure is mounting, the margin for error is nearly gone, and the final stretch of the schedule isn’t forgiving.

Mahomes remains the player opponents fear most. He has pulled the Chiefs out of late-season trouble before, and even in a loss, he showed the poise and playmaking that have defined his career. For now, all hope is not lost for the Chiefs, but it’s going to be a steep climb from here.

Skip Bayless Pounces on Patrick Mahomes After Cowboys Win

Skip Bayless didn’t hold back after the Cowboys’ victory, using Dallas’ defensive dominance as ammunition in his long-running criticism of Patrick Mahomes. He pointed to the numbers with the energy of someone who had been waiting for this moment, saying the Cowboys exposed the gap between hype and output.

He highlighted how Dallas dictated the game from start to finish, stacking more first downs, piling up significantly more total yardage, and keeping Kansas City’s offense from ever finding full rhythm.

“Look what we just did to Patrick Mahomes, the GOAT. I hear he’s the GOAT. We had 23 first downs to the Kansas City Chiefs’ 19,” Bayless said. “We had 468 yards to 362. We held Patrick Freaking Mahomes and Andy Freaking Reid to 362 yards. We outrushed Kansas City, who hung their hat on Kareem Hunt.”

For Bayless, the Cowboys’ ability to limit Mahomes and Andy Reid to just over 360 yards of offense was proof that the Kansas City machine isn’t untouchable.
