Brian Daboll’s time with the New York Giants has officially come to an end. The team announced his dismissal following yet another disappointing stretch in a season that has spiraled out of control.
Daboll’s firing, while not shocking to many, has already set off waves of speculation about who could take over the struggling franchise. Several potential replacements have surfaced, but one name, in particular, has caught fans off guard, courtesy of former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III.
On X (formerly Twitter), RGIII suggested that the Giants should pursue Lane Kiffin, the head coach of Ole Miss. Kiffin. The $14 million worth coach (as per Celebrity Net Worth) has been one of the hottest names in college football.
“The New York Giants should hire Lane Kiffin,” RGIII WROTE.

In recent weeks, he has been linked to major programs such as Florida and LSU, both of which are reportedly evaluating their coaching options. His success with the Ole Miss Rebels, who currently hold an impressive 9-1 record, has made him one of the most sought-after coaches in the sport.
Kiffin’s player development skills and ability to rebuild programs have long made him a favorite in college circles. Now, following Daboll’s firing, that buzz seems to have extended to the NFL as well.
The Giants, desperate for an offensive identity and stability at the head coaching position, could view Kiffin as a bold but intriguing option. It’s too early to speculate whether Kiffin would consider leaving an established program for a struggling NFL franchise.
However, it has almost become a trend in the world of football that whenever a coach is fired, Kiffin’s name is being pushed to the front. Even if he doesn’t entertain the rumors, knowing where he stands today in football must be a great feeling for Kiffin.
New York Giants Fired Brian Daboll
Brian Daboll’s tenure with the Giants began with promise but ended in disappointment. After leading the team to a playoff win in his debut 2022 season, things unraveled quickly. The Giants went 6-11 in 2023, followed by a disastrous 3-14 campaign in 2024, one of the worst in franchise history.
This season’s 2-8 start proved to be the final straw. Despite moments of competitiveness, the Giants consistently failed to close games and showed little progression under his leadership. The organization’s patience finally ran out after a string of losses highlighted by blown leads and poor execution.
With offensive coordinator Mike Kafka stepping in as interim head coach, the Giants will now look to reset their direction heading into 2026.
