Patrick Mahomes stepped into his Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys with the usual intensity, but before kickoff, he shared a touching family moment.
A joint Instagram post from Brittany Mahomes and the NFL showed the Chiefs quarterback walking over to the sideline to greet his family. He knelt down to meet his daughters first, giving them hugs, kisses, and high fives before turning to Brittany, who held their youngest.
Mahomes leaned in for a kiss, smiled, and jogged back toward the field.
“So much to be thankful for,” the caption for the post read.

The warm moment came just hours after Brittany posted their fall family photos, a set of pictures that showed the couple and their three children, dressed in coordinated outfits, surrounded by autumn colors.
Among the most heartfelt reactions was from Patrick’s mother, Randi, who left an emotional comment expressing her love for the entire family.
“My heart!! I love y’all so much,” she wrote.
As the game approached halftime, the Chiefs found themselves trailing by three, 14-17. The Cowboys brought intensity early, and the atmosphere inside AT&T Stadium grew louder with each possession.
For Mahomes, this game is more than a regular-season showdown. It’s his first Thanksgiving appearance, and the national spotlight makes every drive feel magnified. The Chiefs quarterback would need to switch gears in the second half to secure a win here for his team.
Patrick Mahomes’ Thanksgiving Wish
Earlier in the week, Mahomes shared what this Thanksgiving game means to him. Instead of focusing on strategy, he talked about the traditions tied to holiday football. He mentioned how John Madden and the turducken became part of the NFL’s Thanksgiving identity and how thinking about those moments makes the game feel special.
To Mahomes, playing on Thanksgiving connects him to that history. It represents a chance to be part of the legacy that shaped so many childhood memories of the sport.
“I’m thinking of the turducken man, John Madden, that to me is the coolest thing. Obviously, a legend of the game… to be able to be a part of that, I think that would be a special moment,” Mahomes said in a press conference.
Patrick Mahomes says he hopes to join the NFL tradition of biting into a turducken following a win on Thanksgiving 😅

For Mahomes, getting the chance to play on Thanksgiving connects him to that history. It’s a milestone in his career and something he always wanted to experience for himself. He made it clear that stepping into a Thanksgiving kickoff isn’t just another date on the schedule, it’s a moment he’s looked forward to since he was a kid watching Madden call these games.
