Insider Claims Myles Garrett’s $160M Extension Based On Browns’ Dak Prescott Trade Lie

According to radio host Bruce Drennan, the Cleveland Browns dangled the possibility of acquiring Dak Prescott in front of Myles Garrett to convince him to sign a massive extension, only for that trade to never materialize.

On ‘The Bruce Drennan Show’, the host detailed information from his source about conversations between Cleveland’s front office and Garrett.

Drennan explained on his show that before the season began, reports surfaced from a source of his source indicating that the Browns had engaged in discussions with the Dallas Cowboys regarding a potential trade that could have sent Dak Prescott to Cleveland.

He further elaborated on how Cleveland informed Garrett about the Dak Prescott trade situation, which subsequently resulted in Garrett signing a contract extension with the Browns.

“I also was informed by that source back then, that the Browns sat down with Garrett and shared that they were in talks with Dallas to try to improve the quarterback situation, and shortly thereafter that meeting, he signed his extension”,  Drennan explained(0:25).

In March 2025, Garrett signed a four-year contract worth $160 million, with $123.596 million guaranteed and $88.8 million fully guaranteed at signing, and the agreement also featured a signing bonus of $21.54 million.

Garrett Tied for League Lead in Sacks with Brian Burns

The Browns are currently limping through a 2-6 season despite Garrett having a decent season. He has had a total of 31 tackles so far this season and 10 sacks, the joint highest in the league with the New York Giants’ Brian Burns. Garrett also recently dominated the Patriots with a franchise-record five sacks, but couldn’t hide his disappointment afterwards.

“I’d throw the whole performance away for a win,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prescott is facing his share of problems in Dallas. He has recently urged the Cowboys organization to make upgrades to the roster, especially defensively. He also stated that he trusts the front office’s decision-making as the November 4 trade deadline nears.
