The Raiders’ season has not gone the way they had hoped as they sit 2-5 and last in the AFC West at the midpoint of the season. Bringing in Geno Smith over the offseason was supposed to be the spark that brought the team to life, but they are still not there yet as a team so far. As the trade deadline approaches, Maxx Crosby has been one of the names that have been brought up often. The Raiders have said they don’t want to trade Crosby, yet franchise cornerstones can be traded at any time in the NFL.
Crosby is one of the NFL’s best pass rushers and just signed a three-year $106.5 million extension in March. It would be safe to say the star wants to stay in Vegas, but ultimately, teams like the Cowboys are already inquiring about the star. According to Trey Wingo of the Straight Facts Homie! In the podcast, the Cowboys have already shown interest in signing Crosby. With so much uncertainty about the future of the franchise, here are the three teams most likely to land Maxx Crosby before the deadline.
Top 3 Teams to Land Maxx Crosby
1. Dallas Cowboys
This one seems like a no-brainer as the Cowboys lost their best pass rusher in Micah Parsons this offseason. Dallas needs to build up their defense if they are going to compete this year. Another thing to note is that the Cowboys also have plenty of draft capital that could be given for Crosby. Adam Schefter has reported that the Cowboys are trying to bolster their defense ahead of the deadline as well. With an offense that can already compete at a high level, the Cowboys should be one of the top suitors for Crosby.
2. Buffalo Bills
The Bills’ defense has regressed somewhat compared to last year as they struggle to consistently generate pressure. The Bills’ run defense is the worst in the league statistically, giving up 5.8 yards per carry. Both of those issues can easily be solved by bringing in Crosby. Sean McDermott and Crosby could be a scary pairing, but the Bills would need to restructure to retain Crosby. While this deal could cost two first-round picks, it could elevate the Bills into contention status for another year.
3. Detroit Lions
Crosby grew up in Michigan and went to Eastern Michigan University for college, so the move would already have a huge storyline for him to return home. Then there is the fit. Dan Campbell would certainly find a way to use him, and pairing him with Aidan Hutchinson would make the Lions the best pass rush in the league. This would be a nightmare for the rest of the league, yet something that could be in play with the $25 million in cap space and plenty of draft capital Detroit has.
Bottom Line
Currently, the Las Vegas Raiders are claiming that Crosby will not be traded any time soon. That could change really quickly if the team continues down a bad path this year. The Cowboys, Bills, and Lions all look like really good options to get some return in what could be a season changing trade.
