Is Kyler Murray Playing Week 9? What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Cardinals QB Status

Kyler Murray is ready to return to action on Monday, after two weeks injured with a mid-foot sprain. At the start of the week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the quarterback was ready to start, and on Thursday, coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters that the plan was for Murray to start on Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.

Well, but not so fast. Despite the hopeful reports coming from Arizona’s camp and the encouraging words from Gannon, Murray saw limited practice this weekend, and it’s been his backup, Jacoby Brissett, who has been practicing with the first team receivers.

As recently as Thursday, Murray was listed as limited in the injury report. While Friday’s injury report hasn’t been released, it’s a good guess that he will appear as limited once more. This could mean anything with regard to whether he starts on Monday.

    Kyler Murray Injury Update

On Thursday, Arizona Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters that the team is preparing for Kyler Murray’s return to starting duties on Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.

However, as recently as Thursday, Murray was listed as limited in the injury report, and on Friday, Jacoby Brissett was leading the first team offense in practice. While he was listed as available by ESPN earlier this week, his status was again changed to questionable.

Will Kyler Murray Play This Week?

Everything seems to be pointing to him playing against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, but his status as limited on Thursday’s injury report and his absence from practicing with the first team receivers on Friday have raised doubts.

    Kyler Murray Fantasy Outlook

We would recommend you follow the situation closely on Saturday and Sunday morning, but if better news doesn’t appear, bench him for this week. The latest reports have created an atmosphere of doubt that introduces a risk into his availability. The worst thing is, if you wait until Monday, you could easily find yourself without a quarterback to play the entire week.
