In a pivotal season, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has played in just five games this year.
Murray led the Cardinals to an 8-9 record last year and the team just missed the postseason. Murray has only been able to lead Arizona to the postseason once (2021) since being their starting quarterback since the 2019 season.
Murray began the season 2-0, helping the Cardinals earn wins over the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. Arizona then lost its next three games to the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and the Tennessee Titans. What looked like it could be a good season early on turned to Arizona losing its next seven out of eight games, and being one of the bottom teams in the NFL.
Kyler Murray Injury Update
In Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans on October 5, Kyler Murray suffered a foot injury. He would finish the game, but would be sidelined the next three games before being placed on injured reserve.
The injury was later deemed to be a foot sprain. After Murray was absent for three games, the team decided to place him on injured reserve, knocking him out for at least four more games.
Murray has had his fair share of injuries in his NFL career. He’s suffered a foot sprain, torn ACL, sprained ankle, and many other minor injuries.
When Will Kyler Murray Return?
Kyler Murray can not return before Week 14. That is the earliest he will be eligible to play after being placed on injured reserve. The Cardinals face NFC West foe Los Angeles Rams that week, and if all things continue to be on track, Murray could return.
Though he is able to return by Week 14, Arizona may keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. The Cardinals could be looking to explore a different direction at the quarterback spot and may look to move Murray this offseason.
Arizona could also look to save Murray for next season since they won’t be in position for the playoffs when he returns.
