Should I Start Keenan Allen Or Garrett Wilson In Week 6? Fantasy Matchups And WR Outlooks Explored

Wide Receivers and fantasy football just go together and this week is no different. Owners are staring down one of the weekend’s trickiest lineup calls: Keenan Allen or Garrett Wilson. Both are elite talents with top-tier roles in their offenses, but they’re trending in slightly different directions heading into Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season.

    Keenan Allen Outlook

It’s starting to feel like time forgot about Keenan Allen. At 33, the veteran wideout is still finding ways to carve up defenses with surgical precision. He’s put up over 50 yards in almost every game in 2025 and remains the heartbeat of the Chargers’ offense, even as the team has leaned on its younger weapons in recent weeks.

Allen hit a major milestone last week, becoming the fastest player in NFL history to reach 1,000 receptions. But fantasy owners care about what comes next, and that’s a matchup against a shaky Miami Dolphins secondary that has been exploited by better offenses like the Patriots and Colts.

The downside? Allen’s explosiveness isn’t what it used to be. He’s catching a ton of short passes and relying more on volume than big plays. Still, if you’re in a PPR league, he’s as steady as they come, a high-floor WR2 who can flirt with WR1 numbers if the Chargers fall behind early.

    Garrett Wilson Outlook

On the other side, Garrett Wilson continues to make the most of an uneven situation with the New York Jets. Despite a rough start to the season for the Jets, Wilson has remained the centerpiece of the offense, commanding one of the highest target shares in football at over 30%.

In his last three outings, Wilson has averaged nearly 80 receiving yards per game, with his ability to create after the catch keeping him fantasy relevant even when the offense sputters. According to projections from Bleacher Nation, he’s expected to hover around 10 fantasy points this week. He is projected to struggle given his matchup against Denver, which ranks middle-of-the-pack in passing defense.

Wilson’s upside is undeniable, but his situation makes him volatile. The difference between a 5-catch, 50-yard outing and a 9-catch, 120-yard explosion depends entirely on the Jets’ ability to find a way to get him the ball.

    The Verdict

If you need consistency, Allen is the play, he’s matchup-proof and the definition of dependable. With such a tough matchup against the Broncos, Wilson could easily get limited. Allen seems like a sure thing given his matchup with the Dolphins and should get the start in Week 6.
