Kareem Hunt Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Chiefs’ RB Ahead of Week 8

The Kansas City Chiefs had a blowout win last weekend, beating the Las Vegas Raiders 31-0, courtesy of an overall great performance by the offensive unit. However, one player couldn’t get in on the action: Kareem Hunt. The running back had only four carries before he had to be taken off the field with a serious injury.

Following a touchdown reception by returning wide receiver Rashee Rice halfway through the first quarter, Hunt had to be helped off the field with an apparent leg or ankle injury.

While he returned to the field later, his workload was reduced. Hunt played second fiddle to Isiah Pacheco, who was Kansas City’s leading rusher with 57 rushing yards, one touchdown, and 15 carries. In contrast, he recorded only 18 rushing yards in four carries.

    What Happened to Kareem Hunt?

During the first quarter of Kansas City’s victory over Las Vegas over the weekend, Hunt suffered what seemed like an ankle eversion during a play that led to a Rashee Rice touchdown. There are fears that he has suffered a high ankle sprain or some damage to his fibula.

Will Kareem Hunt Play This Week?

There’s a chance that he will, as he returned to last Sunday’s game after initially leaving the field. However, he was heavily limited, with only four carries. There’s a big chance that if he plays, he will be limited again.

There’s no official information on his status from the Chiefs’ end, and anything is speculation at this point. One positive is that the Chiefs will play Monday Night Football, so Hunt will have one more day to recover.

    Kareem Hunt fantasy outlook

Given his situation, fantasy players should bench Hunt in the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the Washington Commanders. Although Monday night’s schedule could give him the extra time he needs to recover, waiting could be a risky move, as players wouldn’t have much to choose from if it turns out that he won’t play.
