Backup running backs Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal will lead the backfield for at least the next four weeks.
The injury plague has hit Los Angeles’ backfield early this season, as Najee Harris suffered a season-ending Achilles injury and rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton recently was placed on injured reserve, following Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders.
Hampton was spotted in a boot on his left ankle after Sunday’s game, and he will miss at least the next four games. With no Hampton or Harris, backups Haskin and Vidal, will take over as the feature backs in the Chargers’ backfield.
Haskins signed this offseason with the Chargers and played under head coach Jim Harbaugh at Michigan in college from 2018-2021. Vidal was drafted in the sixth round of last year’s draft by the Chargers out of Troy.
Are Hassan Haskins And Kimani Vidal Viable Fantasy Options In Week 6?
No, neither Hassan Haskins or Kimani Vidal are solid fantasy options at running back this weekend. Both have been nothing more than backups for their careers, and neither have done anything special for fantasy owners to feel confident about starting either of them.
Haskins, the more experienced back, has rushed for 195 yards and two rushing touchdowns and has added 15 receptions for 108 yards and a receiving touchdown in 37 career games played.
Vidal, on the other hand, has just 173 rushing yards on 47 carries and six catches for 63 yards in his 12 career games played.
On top of neither guy being solid No. 1 running back options, they will very likely have a near-even split count, with the team trying to figure out who will lead the backfield with Harris and Hampton injured.
Haskins carried the ball five times for 13 yards and had a reception for two yards in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders while Vidal had four carries for 18 yards and one reception for one yard.
Fantasy owners should avoid both Haskins and Vidal this week, but if one of them has a breakout game this weekend, then maybe they’ll be worth an add.
