Giants RB Cam Skattebo Reveals How A Mysterious Health Hiccup Almost Ruined Christmas

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo recently shared an update on his recovery process during the current holiday season that would have helped lower the anxiety of his fans and supporters. On Christmas Day, Skattebo took to his Instagram story to upload a photo to reveal that he faced a health emergency on what was supposed to be a festive day.

In the photo that the former Arizona State Sun Devils standout uploaded, his point-of-view is shown, which is him presumably lying down on his bed and resting, along with some sort of IV fluid being injected into his body to help with his recovery and enjoy Christmas. Skattebo also included a caption to express his gratitude towards his doctor for helping him out on short notice after he was feeling uneasy.

“Thanks to Dr. Mark for coming through clutch on Christmas, woke up feeling crappy and @peakbymd came through to save the day!!,” Skattebo captioned.

Skattebo is currently dealing with a slew of injuries that he suffered at the midway mark of the 2025 NFL season. In Week 8, Skattebo and the rest of then-coach Brian Daboll’s 2025 Giants faced coach Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles, who are the defending Super Bowl champions, in away territory, the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. New York lost that matchup by a staggering 18 points, 38-20.

To add insult to injury on the team’s loss, Skattebo got a season-ending setback when he suffered a dislocated right ankle, which was followed by a fractured fibula and a deltoid ligament injury. It was a severe issue that needed immediate attention, which Skattebo was able to receive as he got surgery right after the game ended. Skattebo now looks to make his return in the 2026 campaign.

The 2025 New York Giants Have Struggled Without Cam Skattebo

Unfortunately for the 2025 New York Giants, who are now coached by interim tactician Mike Kafka, they have struggled to rack up wins in the regular season. As it stands, the team possesses a lowly 2-13 overall record and is on the heels of a lackluster nine-game losing streak.

They are looking to snap their losing skid on Sunday, Dec. 28, in Week 17, against coach Pete Carroll’s Las Vegas Raiders in away territory, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
