The Los Angeles Chargers walked into Sunday Night Football with momentum and playoff hopes tightening, but they walked out with one of their most humbling defeats of the season. Jim Harbaugh’s team was dismantled 35–6 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, a result that immediately triggered backlash and placed the head coach under intense scrutiny.
The Jaguars dominated every phase of the game. They racked up nearly 200 rushing yards, controlled possession, and pushed the Chargers around at the line of scrimmage. The Chargers, meanwhile, never looked settled.
Their offense stalled. Their defense struggled to contain the run. The entire performance felt disjointed and overwhelmed. Harbaugh has now been thrust back into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
Fans on the internet aren’t willing to allow any excuse from the head coach for this terrible outing.
“Jim Harbaugh should be embarrassed!!!! Justin Herbert should be embarrassed!!!! Defense sux offense sux staff sux! This team is an embarrassment,” a fan WROTE.

“HEY JIM HARBAUGH!!!!!! Brian Daboll is now available. Your splooge buddy Greg Roman failed you and Justin Herbert,” a fan wrote.
“Jim Harbaugh needs to cut ties with Greg Roman after today,” a fan wrote.
“I think Dean Spanos should fire Jim Harbaugh and bring back Norv Turner. Also let his boys take over personnel decisions,” a fan wrote.
“F*ck it man Michigan did cheat, ain’t no way jim Harbaugh actually won anything legally,” a fan wrote.
This was the kind of loss that sparks conversations about deeper problems. The Chargers were outplayed physically and outcoached strategically. They failed to adjust when the Jaguars attacked their weak spots.
For Harbaugh, the timing could not be worse. He arrived in Los Angeles with expectations of toughness and structure, especially on the offensive line. This latest defeat flips that narrative.
Jim Harbaugh On the Chargers’ Offensive Line
In the days leading up to the game, Harbaugh spoke confidently about the Chargers’ offensive line. He stressed the importance of a physical run game. He acknowledged the group was battered and needed support.
He suggested changes could be coming if performances did not improve. The messaging was aimed at reinforcing trust while also warning that the standard had to rise. Against Jacksonville, none of that materialized.
The line struggled to hold blocks. Pass protection broke down repeatedly. Herbert faced heavy pressure from all angles. The offense never had time to settle into rhythm, and the ground attack never influenced the game. Harbaugh’s emphasis on physicality did not translate onto the field.
This loss will reignite the debate about the Chargers’ trench play and whether Harbaugh’s approach has been effective.
