The Arizona Cardinals are heading to Week 12 in a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but they may be without running back Emari Demercado. He got injured during last week’s s 41-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and this may prevent him from playing against the Jaguars.
He had five carries for eight yards, along with two receptions for 12 yards on three targets during that Week 11 loss against the Niners. He had been solid so far this season, and missing him could be big not just for Arizona, but also Fantasy managers who have him.
What Happened to Emari Demercado?
During that loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Demarcado suffered a high-ankle sprain that got him sidelined. He tried to come back to play, but after testing his ankle out, he was too hurt and was thus sent to the locker rooms. He would not come back during the game, as the Niners dominated his team for the rest of the matchup.
Will Emari Demercado Play Week 12?
A high-ankle sprain may not be a season-ending injury, but it is serious enough that players are often expected to miss a few weeks just because of it, With that, it is expected that Emari Demercado will be missing their Week 12 showdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is expected to be out for a few weeks, though no exact return window has officially been released yet.
That Week 11 loss to San Francisco also saw the Cardinals lose two other key pieces, as cornerback Garrett Williams (shin) and offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum (groin) also took some big bumps during that game and also found themselves getting injured in the process.
Emari Demercado Fantasy Outlook
While Demercado has been solid for Fantasy managers this season, it is not looking good for them for Week 12 and the next few games, as he might be out for quite some time. It should be best not to start him this week and sit him out, before picking other running backs from the waiver wire.
Best Fantasy Replacements for Emari Demercado This Week
The Cardinals are expected to have either Bam Knight or Michael Carter take over running back duties for the injured Demercado, and they are solid enough picks for the waiver wire. Knight had five carries for 24 yards after Demercado went out on Week 11, while Carter has six carries for two yards as the third stringer this season.
