“Wouldn’t Be Sh*t Without 15”: Chiefs Fans Call for Andy Reid’s Retirement After Titans Loss Exposes Post-Patrick Mahomes Reality

When people talk about the Chiefs’ dynasty, it’s often associated with two people. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are believed to be the main architects of it. This is similar to how it used to be said about Tom Brady and Bill Belichick for the Patriots era.

Even in the Brady-Belichick era, there were discussions about whether one could have made the dynasty without the other. Today, many fans believe that Mahomes could’ve accomplished everything even if Reid wasn’t a part of the team.

That belief was further strengthened by the Chiefs’ loss against the Titans. After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and losing their best player to injury, the Chiefs have now lost 9-26 to the Titans.

Fans didn’t waste time calling out Reid over the loss. Most of the comments were about how his presence means nothing to the Chiefs if Mahomes isn’t on the field.

“Andy Reid wouldn’t be sh*t without 15,” a fan wrote.

“Remember when they said Mahomes success was a product of a great roster and Andy Reid? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AAHHHHHH (pause to ponder) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA,” a fan wrote.

“They told me Patrick Mahomes was a product of Andy Reid system and the reason he won the games he won. I won’t entertain it again that offensive guru mastermind of a coach y’all said he was,” a fan wrote.

“Andy Reid gotta go ahead and retire after this. Even without Mahomes losing like this to the worst team in the league is the ultimate embarrassment,” a fan wrote.

“This is what KC looks like without Mahomes. Andy Reid is a bum who needs to retire,” a fan wrote.

The Chiefs’ downfall this season has been shocking to many. When the season is over, they will have to find a way to bounce back from a humiliating season.

Patrick Mahomes Might Return for the 2026 Season

Mahomes got injured during the game against the Chargers. He was escorted out of the field and into the locker room. As fans waited with bated breath to hear an update on his availability, initially, they were told that he would not return.

Soon it became clear that the injury was serious. Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL and underwent surgery last Monday. While the timeline of his return isn’t clear yet, these types of injuries usually take 9-10 months.

So, Mahomes may join his team in the initial weeks of the 2026 season. If he makes great progress and cuts a few weeks from his recovery time, he might be able to be there for redemption from Week 1.
