As the Carolina Panthers seem to have made the next step with Bryce Young as their quarterback and with their newer roster, the playoffs are within reach with the team being 7-7 heading into Week 16.
The Panthers are currently tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first place in the NFC South with each team hoisting 7-7 records. Both the Panthers and Buccaneers suffered costly Week 15 losses that has made making the postseason tougher for each team.
The Panthers most recently dropped a 20-17 divisional game to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, which has made it so that they basically have to win the NFC South to clinch its first postseason berth since the 2017 season.
Can The Carolina Panthers Make The Postseason?
Yes, the Carolina Panthers can still make the playoffs. As of right now, NFL.com currently has them at a 23% chance at making the postseason. Their chances were at 55% heading into Week 15.
There’s two simple scenarios for Carolina to make the postseason: win out, winning their last three games of the season, or to just beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers twice, who they play twice out of their last three games.
Current Playoff Picture
Prior to tonight’ Monday Night Football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins, two teams (one from each conference) have already clinched playoff spots. The Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams each have clinched playoff berths and are the respective No. 1 seeds in the AFC and NFC playoffs.
The New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Pittsburgh Steelers round out the two, three, and four seeds in the AFC being the other three divisional leaders. The three wildcard spots in the AFC currently belong to the Los Angles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans.
In the NFC, the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the 2-4 seeds, each being divisional leaders. The Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and and Green Bay Packers have the three wildcard spots, being seeds 5-7.
