Steph Curry’s Return vs Rockets Has Draymond Green Fired Up

Draymond Green is excited to have Steph Curry back in the lineup. Green confirmed that Curry will return to game action against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

The 38-year-old guard has been practicing with his teammates for several days, slowly ramping up the intensity after being sidelined for nearly two months with a nagging knee injury.

Curry was injured during a game against the Detroit Pistons on Jan. 29 due to knee soreness. He was expected to rejoin the lineup after the NBA All-Star break In Feb, but the medical staff felt he needed more time to fully recover. Now, nine weeks later, Curry is finally ready to get back on the court.

Meanwhile, Green shared his thoughts on Curry’s return, claiming that he is in the best possible shape after recovering from the knee injury.

“Steph Curry is returning on Sunday versus the Houston Rockets,” Draymond Green said on The Draymond Green Show on Friday. “And thank God, we’re excited, obviously. But number one, just to see him back out there on the floor, the NBA is a much better place with Steph Curry on the floor. I think we all can agree with that.”

Green also noted that Curry looked like himself in scrimmages ahead of the Rockets showdown.

“Any time Steph is in these situations where he’s playing these return-to-play [scrimmages], I have so much fun going to sit on the sidelines and talk junk to him. I’m always cheering on the other guys to get stops. And he just annihilates everyone. But I will tell you: He looks like himself.”

Green and the Warriors certainly missed Curry’s presence, as the league’s all-time 3-point leader was averaging 27.2 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game when he was in the lineup.

The Warriors have gone 9-18 in Steph Curry’s absence, so having him back would give them an immediate and much-needed boost as the postseason approaches. Golden State is most likely to lock up the 10th seed and will have to win two play-in games on the road to advance to the first round.
