Savannah James reacted to her son, Bronny James, pulling off a highlight play reminiscent of his father, LeBron James. She shared the moment on social media with a message.
The highlight came during Wednesday’s Lakers-Pacers game when James cut in from the baseline to throw down an emphatic dunk, displaying his leaping ability. Savannah shared the clip on her Instagram account and wrote:
“Bronny above the rim.”
James played 13 minutes against the Pacers, finishing with four points, two steals, a block and a rebound. This marked his 33rd appearance of the 2025-26 season. He is averaging 2.1 points and 1.2 assists per game.
While Bronny James has continued to struggle on the offensive end, his effort and energy on defense have been appreciated by fans on social media. Coach JJ Redick has also noted James’ growth over the last year.
Regardless, the 2024 second-round pick has still struggled to find consistent minutes in Redick’s rotation. With Wednesday’s win, the Lakers are third in the Western Conference with a 47-26 record. The team has won 10 of its last 11 games.
LeBron James says Bronny James “belongs” in the league
Since Bronny James arrived in the NBA, fans and critics have continued to question whether the guard has truly earned his place. James is often dismissed on social media, with fans questioning if his spot is based on merit.
Speaking after Wednesday’s game, LeBron James shared his thoughts on the matter, expressing his pride in Bronny.
“Especially knowing the path, you know, the road …,” LeBron James said. “So, just proud of him. I’m super proud of him. And he belongs. He belongs.”
Coach JJ Redick also had praise for the Lakers guard, citing his effort on defense.
“Felt like this was a game we really needed him,” Redick said. “It was a game that, you know, his athleticism, his defense…. we saw it last year, and we’re seeing it again this year, just his growth as a player.”
The Lakers will return to the court on Friday to face the Brooklyn Nets.
