LeBron James and Dillon Brooks – it’s an unlikely rivalry of sorts that has had its fair share of exchanges, some heated, some passive aggressive, some on court, some off court but certainly all entertaining. Their long-standing and not so friendly rivalry dates back to 2023.
Dillon Brooks struck LeBron James in his groin during Rockets vs Lakers matchup and there have been multiple heated moments ever since. LeBron has kept it professional by saying he understands it is all part of the game and Brooks doesn’t affect him much. Brooks, on the other hand, has been very vocal about his dislike towards Bron.
This season alone the two have clashed thrice. Each contest gave us frantic moments between the two. LeBron and Brooks got into each other’s faces in a game between Suns and Lakers. After Brooks’ ejection in that game, he took a jab at LeBron by calling him a “social media junkie”. In another instance, Brooks claimed that LeBron likes people who bow down to him and Brooks is not one of those people. After such exchanges, it is very hard to believe when a rumor of them being teammates gets floated around.
According to NBA journalist Dan Favale, LeBron James’ Lakers are looking to bring Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks through trade. Brooks is averaging career-high 21.4 points with 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He has been in decent form for the Suns in 28 games this season.
Technically speaking, Lakers could benefit from a player like Brooks. He would certainly bring some fire, passion and some of his on-court antics. However, in the locker room, he might not be the name that would be very welcome due to his relationship with LeBron James.
From Suns’ point of view, Brooks’ value is at an all-time high. If they do go on with the trade idea, they would definitely try to come out as winners in this trade. This would mean Lakers would have to let go a substantial part of their trade assets. More likely scenario will certainly be that this is just a rumor which won’t amount to much, considering all parties involved.
