“Hate That City”: Fans React to Austin Reaves Confronting OKC Supporter For Mocking Luka Doncic’s Defense After Injury

Lakers’ Austin Reaves was infuriated after an OKC supporter mocked Luka Doncic while he lay on the floor in pain due to a left hamstring strain in Thursday’s contest. Doncic limped off the floor after realizing he may have suffered a significant blow. He was seemingly frustrated and emotional as he covered his face.

A courtside supporter from OKC heckled the Lakers’ superstar at the exact moment, calling him out for his lack of defense.

“Now you know what it’s like to play defense,” the fan yelled.

Reaves, who was close by and checking in on Doncic, didn’t let that remark fly. He instantly clapped back, saying:

“Shut the f**k up. Shut up he’s f**king hurt.”

The fan didn’t back down, indulging Reaves after the Lakers guard’s NSFW call out with another NSFW reply:

    “F**k you,” the fan said.

Reaves walked up to the fan and demanded respect for Doncic after those comments.

He was held back by one of the Lakers’ players and a support staff member who broke up the argument.

After the video went viral on X, fans stood with Austin Reaves for backing Luka Doncic. Here’s how they reacted:

“I legit hate that city and their fans with all my heart bro. I’m legit praying on every single one of their downfalls,” one fan said.

“Dude, after watching this man AR got a fan for life here,” another added.

“The courtside fan became too quiet when Reaves approached him lmao Pu*c a** poverty fans,” one fan wrote.

“Austin is a real one but OKC has by far the worst fanbase. Saying this in infront of him is so cruel on so many levels. There is no shame with them,” one fan said.

“Luka is emotional after going down injured and the okc fan thinks it’s a good time to say “now you know what it’s like to play defense” just very weird Reaves was right to call it out,” another added.

“Nah Reaves you so tuff i’ll never slander you again big bro,” one fan wrote.

Austin Reaves doesn’t hold back on Lakers brutal loss amid Luka Doncic’s injury woes

Austin Reaves didn’t hold back in admitting the Lakers were thoroughly beaten by the Thunder on Thursday. Los Angeles lost 139-96 and trailed by 46 at one point. It was a blowout from the get-go as the Thunder got off to an 18-4 start and kept building on it. By the end of the first quarter, it was a 20-point game.

By the end of the first half, the lead was 31 points. The Lakers stood no chance against OKC’s ball pressure, especially with Reaves favoring his back and Doncic struggling with his hamstring ailment. Reaves wasn’t justifying any of those factors after the game.

“They beat the s**t out of us … they’re the defending champs,” Reaves said. “We’ve gotta be better, I don’t know. Losing always sucks no matter if its by one (point) or 50 ( points).

Reaves scored a team-high 15 points on 5 of 9 shots, including 2 of 3 from deep. He was 3 of 3 from the free-throw line in 27 minutes. Meanwhile, Doncic scored 12 on 3 of 10 shots while committing six turnovers in 27 minutes before his exit.

The Lakers fell to 50-29, losing a slight advantage over the Nuggets to hold onto the third seed.
