Draymond Green Confident LeBron James Could Think Twice About His Warriors Recruiting Pitch as Duo Link Up

Draymond Green and LeBron James spent time together on Friday amid the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s free agency. On Sunday, Green admitted to partly using their time together to recruit the four-time MVP to the Golden State Warriors.

Green remains uncertain if James will come to the Bay Area. However, he feels confident his former rival will think twice about the pitch.

“Of course, the pitch was crazy,” the Warriors’ free agent forward said on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show. “Like, since I think I’m pretty decent at it. Doesn’t change anything, doesn’t make anything happen. I don’t know.
“I hope so, with the things that I shared in it, I believe it definitely is going to make the brain work a little bit. You know, if I don’t think there’s a decision that’s been made, but say if there was, it’ll make you think twice about it, you know, and so that’s that.”
Draymond Green said recruitment wasn’t at the top of their planned agendas. He shared that they played golf together with “The Drink Cart Show” hosts, Paul Rivera, Justin Leonard, and Oronde Garrett.
Later, LeBron James and Green caught Jay-Z’s concert at Yankee Stadium.

The Warriors are still at the table for LeBron James despite contrary reports

LeBron James might still consider the Warriors an option despite reports over the past few days suggesting they were out of the running, with the Heat, Cavaliers and 76ers being more favored. On Saturday, NBA insider Jake Fischer claimed the Warriors have a chance as good as any other team.

“I do think the Warriors are still as involved as any team. I want to say that too. As much as the reunion with Cleveland and Miami would be storybook, this new All-Star team … high entertainment value thing that would exist is Golden State, is something that is still very much on the table.”

The Warriors were believed to be the hot favorites once James told the Lakers he was moving on. Draymond Green opted out of his contract, fueling speculation that he was helping Golden State create cap room to offer James more money than the veteran minimum exception.
However, as other teams built their rosters by acquiring new talent via trade and free agency, Golden State stayed put. Several reports indicated that this gave others an edge in signing James.
With Fischer’s report, followed by Green’s pitch, it seems the LeBron James-Warriors links are not going to fade that easily. It will be interesting to see whether the 41-year-old pulls the trigger on such a move, which could easily be the most polarizing decision he makes with his future.
