Dillon Brooks and the Phoenix Suns were sent home in the first round, but the menacing enforcer continues to make his presence felt in NBA circles. In a recent live stream with content creator Rayasianboy, Brooks happened to take a shot at LeBron James’ teammate.
When Ray asked Brooks to name a “dumb” NBA player, Brooks hesitated for a moment but gave his response anyways.
“I’m about to throw a shot, I can’t even lie. This guy doesn’t really like me, but who cares? Jarred Vanderbilt on the Lakers.”
Dillon Brooks continued to pile on Jarred Vanderbilt, who is signed to a contract worth $48 million as per Spotrac.
“He’s, like, a rebounder. Can’t shoot…I just think that he has way more potential that he’s not tapping.”
These comments are not entirely unprovoked, as the two players share a bit of a history. In January 2024, Brooks (who was then playing for the Houston Rockets) got extremely physical with Vanderbilt during a Lakers game. Unable to contain his emotions, Vanderbilt got ejected from the game after his run-in with Brooks.
Brooks has since moved to Phoenix, but it’s clear that his ill feelings towards Vanderbilt haven’t quite subsided. An opportunity to make his voice heard, such as a live stream, only gives Brooks more incentive to take jabs at the Lakers big man.
Viral Clip Shows Dillon Brooks “Hatewatching” LeBron James During Game 4 of Lakers-Thunder Series
Another way that Dillon Brooks has made his presence felt is his live attendance during the Lakers-Thunder series. A viral clip shows Brooks laughing as LeBron James shot free throws in Game 4.
The Lakers went on to get swept by the OKC Thunder that night. Brooks, a longtime nemesis of LBJ, certainly chose a remarkable time to see the Lakers up close.
