Jaden Ivey has gone viral after getting waived for some controversial comments that he made on social media. Amidst the furor over the former Chicago Bulls guard’s sound bites, another tweet supposedly concerning Ivey is making the rounds on the internet.
According to this tweet, Ivey made a pronouncement involving Kevin Durant’s personal and professional life.
“KD is a man without a rib. He seeks a ring from the NBA, but the Lord says he must first seek a ring for a virtuous woman.”
This tweet, however, was posted by the infamous parody account known as NBA Centel. There’s no proof that Jaden Ivey indeed made this statement, whether in person or via social media.
The holier-than-thou tone of the tweet appears to have taken its lead from the very comments that landed Ivey in hot water. This past Monday, the 6-foot-3 guard went on Instagram Live to share his thoughts on the NBA’s promotion of Pride Month.
“The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does, too. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’ They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim it on the streets. Unrighteousness.”
After getting traded by the Detroit Pistons to Chicago earlier this season, Ivey had reportedly taken on a “preachy” tone when conversing with teammates in the Bulls locker room. Unfortunately for him, his latest comments gave impetus to the Bulls front office to release him from the team.
“You Serve God. You’re Not God”: Analyst Gives Stern Advice to Jaden Ivey After Social Media Controversy
In the wake of Jaden Ivey’s release from the Bulls, sports analyst Emmanuel Acho posted a tweet admonishing the Ivey for his behavior.
“Jaden Ivey has to understand freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequence. Also, you serve God. You’re not God. As the son of a pastor, this topic means a lot to me and I’m praying for Jaden Ivey’s mental health.”
As Ivey continues to post concerning messages and clips on social media, fans and pundits alike will have plenty more to say regarding his situation.
