Donny Schatz Sets The Tone For 2026 WoO After Split From Tony Stewart Racing: “It’s Not Going To Take Us Six Months To Get A Win”

Right after attending the 2025 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series Awards, Donny Schatz made a bold statement. 2025 marked his 18th year with Tony Stewart Racing, and after parting ways with the team in August, the WoO veteran joined Chad Clemens’ CJB Motorsports in the #15 ride.

Notably, 2025 was the only season since his rookie year in 1997 that Schatz spent winless. However, the driver is now confident that, working alongside legendary mechanic Barry Jackson, he can start winning races within a year.

“It’s not going to take us six months to get going or get a win,” Donny Schatz said in a recent statement (via viasteeringwheelnation.com). “I feel like we can get going right away because of Barry’s experience and my experience and, obviously, a fresh start. Those guys have been open to anything. They’ve asked me a lot what it is I want to do here and there.”

2026 marks the 30th World of Outlaws season. Meanwhile, at Tony Stewart Racing, Kerry Madsen has taken Donny Schatz’s spot. He will drive the No. 15 entry in 2026.

“The Off-Season Has Been A Big Reset”- Donny Schatz Gets “Super Pumped’ For a Fresh Start in 2026

2025 was a lacklustre season for Donny Schatz. In fact, it was his first season without a win since his series debut in 1997. Addressing the departure of Schatz from Tony Stewart Racing, team owner Tony Stewart said in a statement,

“The achievements we’ve accomplished together are something that I’ll always be proud of, but in the past few years, we’ve weathered changes in the sport and our performance hasn’t been to the level that both Donny and I expect.”

Well, Schatz feels that the off-season has been a great time for him to regain his winning momentum. Recalling his performance over the past season, Schatz said,

“When things happen, it’s like a snowball effect. When bad things happen, they just keep going. I had a lot of people stick their neck out for me, and I felt like I did the best I could to get to the end and we got there. But the off-season has been a big reset. It’s been a mental reset. It’s been a physical reset.”

“For me to start over and recharge the batteries and refresh the attitude and all the things it takes. I’m super pumped. I’m ready to get back racing,” he added.

In nearly two decades of competing in the World of Outlaws, Donny Schatz has bagged 10 championship titles and won a total of 315 races. The 2026 season will kick off at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, where Schatz has previously won 24 World of Outlaws events.
