Michigan Superfan Grills New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani Over Tenant Advocate’s “White Supremacy” Comments

Michigan superfan and Barstool Sports founder, Dave Portnoy, is an outspoken individual on social media. He engages with a variety of topics, not limiting his opinions to just college football.

Recently, Portnoy went against Zohran Mamdani, the 112th mayor of New York City, who assumed office on January 1. Portnoy’s problem with Mamdani and his office stems from his newly appointed tenant advocate, Cea Weaver’s comments on home ownership.

As per the New York Post, Weaver, in a now-deleted post from 2018, wrote, “Seize private property.” Her views on property ownership didn’t change over the years as she continued to double down on her stance.

“Private property including and kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as “wealth building” public policy,” Weaver wrote in a 2019 post.

This has seemingly ticked off Portnoy, as when he saw the news posted by the New York Post on X, he responded by taking jabs at Mamdani.

“You mean the communist mayor is appointing communists to his cabinet?  Shocker.  Unfortunately this is what NYC voted for.   It’s not like Mamdani was hiding who he was during the election,” he wrote.

The New York Post article on Weaver’s ‘white supremacy’ comment took a deep dive into the things she has posted before. From asking to “Elect more communists,” in 2017, to “The Police Are Just People The State Sanctions To Murder W[ith] Immunity,” a variety of old posts have been unearthed.

There are arguments against her take on home ownership, such as “Without landlords how to do you build and maintain housing?” by Humberto Lopes, founder and CEO of the Gotham Housing Alliance.

Michigan Superfan Dave Portnoy Asked Lane Kiffin to Move to Michigan

Lane Kiffin’s departure from the Ole Miss Rebels last year was one of the biggest shocks of the season. He left a playoff-bound team that he had built to join the LSU Tigers, right before the playoffs started.

In December, when the Michigan Wolverines were still looking for a new head coach after the Sherrone Moore debacle, Portnoy asked how much the Tigers pay Kiffin and wondered if he’d join the Wolverines if they doubled the amount.

“How much did LSU pay @Lane_Kiffin     Let’s just double it.   He’d leave.   Reunite him Underwood,” Portnoy wrote.

Hours later, Kiffin responded to Portnoy, asking him to join and possibly sponsor the Tigers.

“Instead @stoolpresidente You #ComeToTheBoot Together we can’t be beat!” Kiffin wrote.

Weeks later, the Michigan Wolverines hired Kyle Whittingham as their head coach. Whittingham was previously with the Utah Utes for over two decades.
