The Michigan Wolverines, after firing former head coach Sherrone Moore on the backdrop of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, are working against the clock to hire their next head coach as the January transfer portal comes closer.
According to On3, Louisville’s Jeff Brohm has surfaced as a compelling option for the Wolverines in recent days. Brohm’s 93-56 record across 12 seasons as an FBS head coach puts nine bowl game appearances next to his name.
Brohm has also previously guided Purdue to a Big Ten Championship Game appearance and recently helped Louisville emerge victorious over playoff-bound Miami Hurricanes earlier this season.
Amidst Brohm’s links to Michigan, college football analyst Joel Klatt has also deemed the current Louisville Cardinals’ head coach to be a strong candidate for this job.
Michigan interim head coach Biff Poggi said Warde Manuel plans to hire a new coach before the Citrus Bowl. And he wants the job.

The urgency surrounding Michigan’s search for a new head coach stems from the transfer portal opening on January 2nd. Athletic director Warde Manuel reportedly wants a head coach in place by New Year’s Eve, when the Wolverines face Texas in the Citrus Bowl.
With quarterback Jadyn Davis and wide receiver Frederick Moore having already announced their intention to join the transfer portal, offensive tackle Connor Jones is also expected to enter the portal. These departures will only keep increasing amidst Michigan’s uncertainty over its next head coach.

Biff Poggi Reveals Interviewing For Michigan Head Coach Job
Michigan Wolverines Interim Head Coach Biff Poggi recently revealed how he is being considered for a more permanent job, having interviewed and been in conversation about becoming the Michigan-based side’s next head coach.
“I’m being considered. I’ve had multiple interviews, multiple conversations,” Poggi told reporters on Monday.
“Nobody knows what’s going to happen. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I just appreciate being considered, and we’ll see what happens”, he further elaborated.
Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz also continues to be one of the names to potentially head the Wolverines into the new season, while former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham and Los Angeles Chargers’ defensive coordinator Jesse Minter are in the fray to replace Moore at Michigan.
