The Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA, averaging 24 points and 12 assists this season. Now, he’s taking on another role, accepting an assistant GM position at Oklahoma men’s basketball Monday.

Meet Trae Young’s Parents, Candice and Rayford Young
Young, born on Sept. 19, 1998, is the son of Candice and Rayford Young. The couple met in high school, following each other to Texas Tech, where they had Trae. In Aug. 2000, the couple officially married and now live in Norman, Oklahoma. After having Trae, they had three more children, two girls and one boy.
Rayford studied Business Finance at Texas Tech, where he played for the Red Raiders basketball team. He then played half a season in the NBA for the Houston Rockets before moving to Europe to pursue a professional basketball career.
Rayford played for several European teams, including FC Porto in Portugal, before ending his professional career and taking an assistant coaching job in Oklahoma.
After coaching, Rayford worked as a medical device sales representative with Teleflex Incorporated until 2013. He then worked as a clinical sales specialist with Spectranetics in Oklahoma City before becoming a territory manager at TriVascular, Inc. from 2014 to 2018.
Now, Rayford is the CEO of Young Family Enterprises.

Candice, a devout Christian, is one of four siblings. She has two sisters, Chandra and Charity, and a brother, Joshua. She completed secondary education at Pampa High School before enrolling at Texas Tech, where she also played basketball. At one point, Candice was also a manager at Chili’s Grill & Bar.
