Justin Pippen, Michigan’s freshman point guard, recently entered the transfer portal. The son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, he’s seeking a fresh start after a quiet season with the Wolverines.
Beyond the court, Justin comes from a large, complex family with deep ties to basketball and beyond.

All You Need to Know About Justin Pippen’s Siblings
Born July 11, 2005, to Scottie and Larsa Pippen, Justin is one of eight children. His siblings have different mothers.
First is Antron Pippen, born Dec. 29, 1987, to Scottie and his first wife, Karen McCollum. Antron died in 2021 at age 33.
Then there’s Taylor Pippen, born July 20, 1994, to Scottie and ex-girlfriend Sonya Roby. She’s the surviving twin; her sister, Tyler Roby Pippen, was born the same day but died nine days later.
Sierra Pippen was born on February 17, 1995, from Scottie’s relationship with Yvette De Leon.
Justin’s full siblings come from Scottie and Larsa’s marriage. Scotty Pippen Jr., born November 10, 2000, is carving his own path in the NBA. Preston Pippen, born August 26, 2002, is another older brother. The youngest, Sophia Pippen, was born on December 26, 2008.
Why Did Justin Pippen Enter the Transfer Portal?
Justin’s time at Michigan didn’t go as planned. He played in 28 games during his freshman year but averaged just 6.6 minutes and 1.6 points per game.
The Wolverines’ backcourt featured experienced players, including juniors Tre Donaldson and Roddy Gayle Jr., and senior Nimari Burnett, limiting Pippen’s opportunities.
According to Travis Branham of 247Sports, Justin plans to explore new opportunities via the transfer portal. The move came just before Michigan’s Sweet 16 matchup with No. 1 Auburn.
Rated a four-star recruit and the No. 13 combo guard in the 2024 class by 247Sports, Pippen has potential. Branham described him as “a naturally talented guard with good instincts for the game” and said he “is very comfortable with the ball in his hands to score from all three levels and also set the tables for those around him.”
With his brother Scotty Pippen Jr. playing for the Memphis Grizzlies and his father’s six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls, Justin faces high expectations. A transfer could offer him a chance to step out of the shadows.

With three full siblings and four half-siblings, Justin’s family tree is as dynamic as his father’s Bulls legacy. As he considers his next move, he could be the next big addition to his family’s basketball legacy.
