Missouri basketball made a significant move on Thursday by securing Tolton High graduate and Loyola Marymount forward Jevon Porter from the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-11 forward is the latest member of a family deeply rooted in Missouri basketball history. Jevon is one of eight kids, five of whom have played for the Tigers, continuing a legacy of elite athletic talent in the Porter family.

A Family of Basketball Stars
Jevon Porter is the younger brother of NBA champion Michael Porter Jr., former NBA player Jontay Porter, and standout Mizzou women’s basketball players Bri and Cierra Porter.
This family has left a lasting mark on Missouri’s basketball program, with multiple members excelling at both the collegiate and professional levels.
Michael Porter Jr.
The most well-known of the Porter siblings, Michael was the highest-rated recruit in Missouri history when he signed with the Tigers in 2017.
Though injuries limited his time at Mizzou, he later became an integral part of the Denver Nuggets, helping them secure an NBA championship. His success at the professional level has set a high bar for his younger siblings.
Jontay Porter
Following in his older brother’s footsteps, Jontay joined Missouri as part of the same 2017 recruiting class. A versatile forward, he displayed significant promise before injuries affected his trajectory. Jontay had a brief stint in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies and continues to be involved in the professional basketball world.
Cierra and Bri Porter
The Porter family’s influence extends beyond the men’s team. Cierra was a star for the Missouri women’s basketball team, playing under coach Robin Pingeton.
She earned the prestigious SEC Sixth Woman of the Year honor as a senior, further solidifying the family’s dominance in Missouri basketball. Her sister, Bri, also played for the Tigers, showcasing the athletic prowess that runs in the family.
Jevon Porter’s Journey
Jevon Porter’s basketball journey has been one of steady growth and development. The Columbia native initially played for Pepperdine before transferring to Loyola Marymount.
This past season, he averaged 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 39.4% from the field and 31.6% from 3-point range. His return to Missouri comes after nearly committing to the Tigers during last offseason’s transfer portal cycle.
At Father Tolton High School, Jevon played alongside his brothers Michael and Jontay at various points, gaining valuable experience and sharpening his skills. Now, he has the opportunity to make an impact at Mizzou, following in the footsteps of his accomplished siblings.
Continuing the Porter Legacy
With Jevon joining Missouri, the Porter family’s connection to the Tigers remains stronger than ever. His addition to the roster brings excitement and a sense of continuity to Mizzou fans who have witnessed multiple Porter siblings contribute to the program.
