    All Wright Enters Transfer Portal, Draws Attention from Top Programs

    The Valparaiso guard has emerged as a sought-after transfer prospect after entering the NCAA portal, attracting interest from more than 20 programs, according to his agent, Daniel Poneman.

    Schools expressing interest include South Carolina, Florida State, Butler, Richmond, Kansas State, Loyola-Chicago, Mississippi State, Illinois, St. Louis, Kansas, Boise State, DePaul, George Washington, USC, Iowa, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Baylor, Oklahoma, and Dayton.

    Born in Durango, Mexico, Wright moved to Carthage, Mo., at age two. His brother, Always, plays for Rhode Island, and his father, Joe, starred at Kansas State before a pro career overseas, setting a single-season scoring record in Iceland (46.6 PPG, 1992-93).

    His mother, Karina, is a teacher. His full name is Andre All Wright Vargas. A food lover, he enjoyed exploring Valparaiso’s dining spots and is considering a career in finance or aviation.

    The 6’3″ guard showcased his scoring ability during the 2024-25 season, shooting over 38% from three-point range while averaging 15.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game.

    His standout performances in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament solidified his reputation, highlighted by a 29-point effort in an upset victory over Northern Iowa and a 24-point outing against Bradley in the semifinals.

    Before his college career, Wright played three seasons at Joplin High School in Missouri before transferring to Link Year Academy, where he averaged 15.0 points and 7.0 assists as a senior. A notable moment from his junior year at Joplin was sinking two clutch free throws to secure a playoff win.

    Despite exploring new opportunities, Wright is considering a return to Valparaiso, where the team improved to 15-19 under head coach Roger Powell Jr. Valpo averaged 74.7 points per game while shooting 42.7% from the field and 33.6% from beyond the arc.
