The NCAA Tournament has seen its share of amazing sharpshooting talent. Players have turned games into long-range shootouts, scoring the sweet three-pointers for their teams.
No. 2 seed Alabama’s recent 25-three-pointer barrage against No. 6 seed BYU on Thursday set a new benchmark. Here’s a look at the top five teams that have lit up the scoreboard from beyond the arc in tournament history.

Top 5 Three-Point-Shooting Teams in NCAA Tournament History
The Alabama Crimson Tide now holds the crown for the most three-pointers in a single NCAA Tournament game. They sank 25 triples in a 113-88 rout of BYU during the Sweet 16 to advance to a second-straight Elite Eight. The game also shattered records with a combined 81 three-point attempts between the two teams.
Senior Alabama guard Mark Sears led the charge, drilling 10 of Alabama’s long-range shots, falling just one shy of the individual record.
Before Alabama’s historic night, Loyola Marymount owned the top spot. The Lions hit 21 three-pointers in a second-round win over Michigan on March 18, 1990. That mark stood untouched for over three decades. LMU’s Jeff Fryer was the star, nailing 11 triples to set the individual record that still stands.
Duke and West Virginia share third place, each with 18 three-pointers in a game. The Blue Devils rained shots on Monmouth in the first round on March 15, 2001, while West Virginia followed suit, bombing Louisville in a regional final on March 26, 2005.
Loyola Marymount appears again, tying with Auburn and Villanova at 17 three-pointers. The Lions hit that number against UNLV in a regional final on March 25, 1990. Auburn matched it, overpowering North Carolina in a regional semifinal on March 29, 2019.
