Top 3 Dallas Mavericks Trade Ideas As Nico Harrison Gets Fired Ft. Anthony Davis to Miami Heat

Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison was fired Tuesday. In February, Luka Doncic was surprisingly traded to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis and Max Christie. This move spread shockwaves through the league, especially given the fact Doncic was expected to be a long-term investment for the Mavs. But since, then things have only gone south.

Harrison’s firing was a long time coming. The Mavericks this season are in nothing less than shambles. The team stands second last in the Western Conference with a 3-8 record. Also, fans in Dallas are not at all pleased.

So does this warrant Dallas to pick some trade deals on the way? The Mavs desperately needs a rebuild and the hopeful project around Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis has now seemingly collapsed. So, how can the Mavs pivot real quick in this regard? Here are some of the possible destinations for Mavs stars in trade deals.

Dallas’ Anthony Davis to Miami Heat

The Miami Heat could be a great possible destination for Anthony Davis, if a trade for him are in the books. The Heat currently sit in a dilemma, with both Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra looking to find the next right piece before the window closes. And perhaps, picking Davis could be a great path to pave back to contention.

Though AD might have durability concerns, he is still one of the seasoned bigs and brings in championship experience. Davis would seamlessly fit defensively alongside Bam Adebayo and would be capable of switching across all five positions. Also, with Miami’s disciplined style of half-court play and spacing, it could ease off some pressure from him.

    Kyrie Irving to LA Lakers

In all honesty, Kyrie Irving‘s trade value is almost close to zero right now. Last season, Irving suffered an ACL tear in March. With this, the star point guard was ruled out for the rest of the season and is not expected to return at least until early 2026. But that does not mean there aren’t any destinations for him if a trade was in the books.

Irving still has three years left in his contract. One of the most talked about destinations, which fans speculated even during his move from the Brooklyn Nets, was the LA Lakers. It’s never too late to reimagine this trade and see him reunite with his ex-teammates Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

With Irving, the Lakers could create a great backcourt, even with a 40-year old James or Austin Reaves on the floor. It’s never not an option to refute, and Rob Pelinka could perhaps even consider this trade as a way to bring back the Lakeshow into contention.

    Klay Thompson to Washington Wizards

The Wizards are currently in their rebuild phase around youngsters Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly. And with Klay Thompson’s contract set to expire in 2027, the Wizards could be a great destination for the former Splash Bro in terms of cap flexibility. Although, it could mean Thompson might have to compromise with his expectations to land in a championship contention team.

With Thompson having perhaps the worst start to a season, a change of scenery could help. Rebuilding rosters could be one of the best places for the four-time NBA champion to further his shooting recovery. Though a shell of his previous self, Thompson’s addition to the Wizards sounds much more of a calculated move than one could seemingly expect.
