The Jayhawks have gone through a turbulent season, to say the least. For the first time in over four years, Kansas finds themselves unranked. It goes without saying that this is not a campaign that has lived up to their standards – especially because they entered the season as the No. 1 team in the country.
Meanwhile, the Red Raiders have held their own in Big 12 play, as they are well-positioned at third place in the conference.
Although the regular season conference title is out of Texas Tech’s reach, the team wants to play their best basketball heading into March.
Prediction for Texas Tech vs. Kansas
Kansas has beaten up on poor competition the last two weeks, while the Red Raiders have dropped two of the last three games. Texas Tech is looking to extend its season-long streak of not losing back-to-back games.
Texas Tech has been without two of their top scorers – Chance McMillan (15.1 points, 53.4 FG%, and 45.4% from deep) and Darrion Williams (14.9 points, 44.8 FG%, and 35.1% from deep) in this recent skid.
Both players are questionable for Saturday against Kansas.
The Jayhawks have one win over a top-25 opponent all season, which is a worrisome stat considering Texas Tech is ranked No. 10 in the nation.

Over the last two games, Kansas has been heavily reliant on Hunter Dickinson, who has averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds over that span. Albeit those strong performances came against Oklahoma State and Colorado, Dickinson needed that type of production for his confidence.
If the Red Raiders are at full health, it is difficult to see them losing this game, despite being in one of the most challenging environments in all of college basketball. However, if the Red Raiders are still down to a six-man rotation, that may be too much to overcome on the road against a flawed but talented Kansas team.
A win for Kansas would be monumental and could revitalize a squad that was expected to compete for a national title.
If the Jayhawks win this game and figure things out a bit down the stretch in March, they are going to be a four or five seed that no one will want to see in their quadrant.
Prediction: Kansas 75, Texas Tech 70
