    ‘Will Be the Steal of the Draft’: Fans React to Isaiah ‘Slim’ Evans’ Accuracy As Duke Faces Illinois at Madison Square Garden

    Isaiah Evans was in his bag as the Duke Blue Devils defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini in a non-conference matchup. 

    Duke dominated the game from start to finish, with Evans shining on the big stage in a game that took place at Madison Square Garden.

    The 6’6″ guard had played a great game in the win against Virginia, and he continued in the same vein last night.

    Fans Hail Duke’s Isaiah Evans As He Replicates Virginia Performance Against Illinois

    Evans dropped 17 points against the Fighting Illini, the same number he dropped against Virginia last Tuesday. 

    In addition to the 17 points, Evans also recorded two assists and two rebounds in just 18 minutes of game time.

    His performance got people talking on X, with one fan saying he could be a potential steal for any team that selects him in this year’s NBA Draft. 

    “Will be the steal of the draft,” a fan said

    “That’s a 5 star recruit right there!!,” another fan said.

    “They did it back to back possessions against Virginia. Usually Maliq is the screener, but love that they ran it successfully with Pat,” a fan reacting to the video Duke shared. 

    Evans’ performance in the game kept receiving plaudits, with one saying he’s built for the big stage.

    “Best shooter in America. Built for the bright lights,” another fan said

    “Top 13 draft pick, a fan said.

    Evans started the season slow but has notched back-to-back games with double-digit points for the first time this season.

    Cooper Flagg Shines Alongside Isaiah Evans

    Evans was not the only player that balled out. Cooper Flagg, the projected No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, also came to the party, dropping 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in the rout.

    The Blue Devils showed why they remain a championship contender, as they took a 54-37 halftime lead before sealing a 110-67 win. The victory maintained Duke’s lead at the top of the ACC and also improved their overall record to 24-3. 

    Up next for the No. 3 team in the nation is a clash against the Miami Hurricanes on Feb. 25.
