Louisville fans received some much-needed good news ahead of their NCAA Tournament matchup with Creighton, as guard Reyne Smith was cleared to play after recovering from an injury. However, it appears he re-aggravated the injury in the second half of the Cardinals’ March Madness opener.

College basketball insider Jon Rothstein made the announcement via social media. Smith, who has been a key part of the Cardinals’ lineup this season, was sidelined due to an undisclosed injury, leaving fans and coaches eager for his return.
Louisville’s Reyne Smith (ankle) will play in Thursday’s NCAA Tournament game against Creighton, per Pat Kelsey.
Has not played since 3/5.

However, Smith only played one half before appearing to re-injure his right ankle on a 3-point attempt.

He was ultimately helped off the court and is questionable to return to the contest. Lousiville is currently down 73-61 with just over five minutes remaining.

The entire Louisville team surrounded him on the court before he entered the locker room. Smith exited the contest with five points and two rebounds.
