5-Star Center Chris Cenac Jr. Commits to Houston

Cenac announced his commitment to Houston on November 26, 2024, making him the program’s highest-ranked recruit in its history. He chose the Cougars over Kentucky, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee.

Cenac’s game is defined by his remarkable flexibility. Kelvin Sampson, Houston’s head coach, emphasized his ranged skills.

“Chris gives us great length and great size, but he is unique. He is not a big man’s big man, Sampson explained. “He is a basketball player who happens to be 6-foot-10. He will be one of the better three-point shooters on the team. Instead of a roll guy, he gives us a pop guy.

“He gives us a guy who can spot up in transition, and he can also handle the ball, and he can pass. Chris has a chance to be a high-level player,” the coach concluded.

Houston’s 2025 class, comprised of Cenac, five-star shooting guard Isaiah Harwell, four-star point guard Kingston Flemings, and three-star wing Bryce Jackson, is currently ranked second in the nation by 247Sports and ESPN.

With Cenac’s arrival, the Cougars will be on track for a successful 2025-26 season. His stature, shooting ability, and ball-handling abilities are expected to have an instant impact, boosting Houston’s play on the national level.
