Omaha power forward Marquel Sutton, the Summit League Player of the Year, is hitting the transfer portal, he told ESPN. The senior, who averaged 18.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, is eligible for one more year of athletics after playing his freshman year at Connors State, a Junior College in Oklahoma.
Sutton was a key part of a Maverick team that made the NCAA tournament following a Summit League regular season and tournament championship, leading the team in both points and rebounds.

Omaha Forward Marquel Sutton Enters Portal After Summit League Player of the Year Campaign
After receiving no attention out of high school despite averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds and receiving All-State honors as a senior, Sutton made his way to Connors State, where he averaged 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds.
Shooting 56% from the field and 40% from three, Sutton put up 30 twice, gaining him attention from Omaha.
In three years at Omaha, Sutton started 99 games, averaging 14 points and 6.4 rebounds. While his senior season was his best, Sutton excelled in his sophomore and junior years, becoming an immediate double-digit scorer and never averaging under five rebounds per game.
Now, the Tulsa, Oklahoma native looks to the portal and potential NIL earnings. With a history of staying within the state, Sutton could look towards Oklahoma or Oklahoma State, two teams looking to reload after the 2024-25 season.
