    Mike Bibby’s Family

As is the case with most former professional athletes, sports play a major role in the lives of their family members. For Bibby and his wife Darcy, that is certainly the case.

Together, the couple has four children. Most notably, Michael Bibby Jr. played college basketball at South Florida before transferring to play at Appalachian State. Additionally, Janae Bibby, one of the three Bibby daughters, played college volleyball at Fresno Pacific.

Of course, Mike Bibby is also related to some other outstanding professional athletes.

His father, Henry Bibby, was a three-time national champion at UCLA under legendary head coach John Wooden before heading to the NBA to win a championship with the New York Knicks in 1982.

Mike Bibby also had the chance to play with his brother-in-law, Eddie House, twice during his NBA career with both the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat. He is also cousins with former United States national team member Robbie Findley and former NFL wide receiver Shaun McDonald.

    Bibby’s Strong Playing Career

While Bibby did not make an All-Star team during his long playing career, he still managed to play for six different teams for nearly 15 years in the NBA.

Of course, that was after he won a national title in 1997 at the University of Arizona, where he was an All-American and an all-conference player.

The 46-year-old last served as head coach at Hillcrest Prep High School (Phoenix, Arizona) in 2019, following his time as head coach at Shadow Mountain High School (Phoenix, Arizona).

Time will tell if the former point guard can guide the Sacramento State program back to glory in the foreseeable future. This past season, the team put together a horrific 7-25 record (3-15 in conference), which put them in the basement of the Big Sky Conference.

If Bibby can turn the program around, he might have a strong future ahead of himself.
