Maryland comes into Lincoln with an 18-6 record and an 8-5 conference mark, which ranks sixth in the Big Ten. They’re 11-12-1 ATS on the season, including covering just five of 13 conference games.

Although they’ve been on a hot streak, in terms of winning games, as of late, they’ve only covered in two of their last eight outings.

The Terrapins have a propensity for exceeding the listed point total. This season, 62.5% of their games have gone over. Similarly, eight of their 13 conference matchups have gone over. When visiting Pinnacle Bank Arena, the over has been a successful bet in five of Maryland’s seven away games.

Nebraska is 16-8 on the season and has surged to a 6-7 Big Ten record—good for a tie for ninth place. They’ve done well ATS, going 14-10 overall, including 9-6 as the favorite, which they are against the Terrapins. The Cornhuskers have covered each of their last four games.

Relatively, even as far as the over/under figure goes, exactly 50% of Nebraska’s games have gone over. Seven of 13 conference matchups have gone over—not much of a difference.

However, the over has hit in each of the last three Cornhusker games, as their offense has come alive recently.

Maryland vs. Nebraska CSN Power Rankings Line

Our metrics system showcases a huge difference between our line of Maryland -6.5 and Vegas’s line of Nebraska -1.5. Our power rankings illustrate why that is. The Terrapins are slotted at No. 12, while the Cornhuskers are far below at No. 83.

It doesn’t take a scientist to see that our metrics favor Maryland’s side of the line and plus-money on the money line.

    Prediction for Maryland vs. Nebraska

Nebraska’s four-game winning streak includes defeating three Quad 1 opponents. If they can add another against the Terrapins, it’d go a long way towards bolstering their NCAA Tournament chances.

Maryland, also on a heater, will do everything it can not to let that happen.

The Terrapins have an extremely balanced squad led by talented freshman center Derik Queen. He’s a force down low, scoring a team-leading 15.5 ppg and grabbing 8.5 rpg, good for second on the team. 6’9″ forward Julian Reese barely edges out Queen for the rebounding lead with nine a game and 13.7 ppg.

Each of the starting guards—Ja’Kobi Gillespie, Rodney Rice, and Selton Miguel—score in double-figures, led by Gillespie’s 14.3 ppg and team-leading 4.6 assists per game.

Nebraska is headed by the third-best scorer in the Big Ten, senior guard Brice Williams. He pours in 19.4 ppg on 47.5% shooting from the field while tying for a team lead with 2.8 apg. Meanwhile, forward Juwan Gary adds 13.1 ppg and 5.0 RPG.

Unfortunately, the Cornhuskers will combat the twin towers of Reese and Queen without their starting center. Berke Buyuktuncel, fresh off his best game of the season against the Ohio State Buckeyes, suffered an ankle injury and will miss the game.

Buyuktuncel’s absence will be a huge factor against Maryland’s supersized front line. Our metrics point towards the Terrapins’ advantage, while Vegas has a completely different idea.

We’ll take Maryland +1.5, which may flip either way until tip-off. In fact, I’d be comfortable taking an adjusted line of Maryland -6.5. What are the odds of that? An extremely favorable +260.

The trends also suggest the over is the play here. Five of the Terrapins’ seven away games have gone over, and the Cornhuskers’ last three outings have also gone over.

Over 147.5 points doesn’t seem insurmountable between these two teams. Maryland will have its way down low, while Nebraska will hit some shots on their home floor. But it won’t be enough to down the Terrapins, as they’ll notch their 19th win on the season, snapping Nebraska’s win streak.

    Picks: Maryland +1.5; Maryland -6.5 (+260); Over 147.5 points

    Prediction: Maryland 79, Nebraska 70
