CSUN forward Marcus Adams Jr. has announced that he will enter the transfer portal, which will open on March 24, 2025. He made this announcement to move to a more competitive and powerful team that plays in one or more of the big conference programs.

Adams, a Torrance native, has had a good run as a basketball player. The 20-year-old freshman was a four-star player at Narbonne High School in Harbor City before playing for the BYU Cougars for a season.
Afterward, he moved to California State Northridge Matadors, where he averaged 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He also shot 39.5% from three and had a field goal percentage of 52.6%
It is no surprise that he was instrumental to CSUN’s success this year and was the team’s leading scorer because he has a background in basketball. His father, Marcus Adams Sr., played basketball at Compton Dominguez and Nevada Las Vegas.

What Does Marcus Adams Jr. Bring to the NCAA Tournament?
As CSUN’s leading scorer, Adams has a strong offensive skill. His ability to play offense and defense effectively as a forward player will make him a key contributor to any team. His 6’8 height is a plus as effectively defending tall players would be easy.
Any team in the NCAA would feel his impact because of his rebounding and three-point shooting skills. Adams is also athletic, agile, and strong, and these qualities make passing from both high and low post areas a piece of cake.
Top 5 Potential Landing Spots for Marcus Adams Jr.
Syracuse Orange
As a team that used to make lots of appearances in the NCAA tournament and made their last appearance in 2021, Adams’ skills as a lead scorer might be a game-changer in leading them to the tournament. Playing with the team means playing in the ACC tournament, which will potentially expose Marcus to NBA scouts.
Oregon Ducks
In terms of competitiveness and offense, the Ducks are a good fit for the CSUN Forward. In the Pac-12 Conference, the team has previously beaten strong teams, adding credibility to the team’s name. However, the team’s defense is weak, and a combination of Adams’ skills and height will be a key contribution to the team.
UCLA Bruins
This team is another potential spot for Adams, as they have decided to prioritize transfer portal players over any other this time. With Adams’ experience and competitiveness, he will thrive in a team where stability and competitiveness matter above other strengths.
Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns are a strong athletic team, which will improve Adams’ athleticism. However, the team’s inconsistent and weak shooting ability is an area Adams can improve. In exchange, Adams will gain more experience and be exposed to competitive games in the Big 12.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
Being a member of the SEC is a platform for Adams to compete against big teams, making him a better player. With a weak 3-point shooting percentage, Marcus’ proven 3-point shooting ability would make him valuable addition.
Final Thoughts
Recruiting Adams has always been a competitive process, and this time will be no exception. If business opportunities and endorsements are important to Adams, a team like the Bulldogs will be a perfect fit for him.
