While Kon Knueppel is one of the best players on the Duke Blue Devils, he is not the only top-notch athlete in his own family.
The Milwaukee native’s parents are also record holders within their respective college basketball programs.

Like Father and Mother, Like Son
With Knueppel showing out at Duke as a freshman this season, it has fans wondering where he developed his game.
Well, part of that comes from his parents.
His father, Kon Knueppel Sr., is the all-time leading scorer at Wisconsin Lutheran College, while his mother, Chari Knueppel, is the all-time leading scorer at UW-Green Bay. So, it is easy to see where the Duke star got some of his basketball magic from.
When one or two family members play the same sport, especially if they are the parents, the love for the game can spread rapidly. Knueppel has greatly benefited from being the son of two great college basketball players.
Duke Can Win It All
While superstar freshman Cooper Flagg has dominated the college basketball world this season, Knueppel has been Robin to Flagg’s Batman.
Now that Flagg is dealing with an ankle injury that may keep him out for the rest of the ACC Tournament, it will be up to Knueppel and Co. to hold down the fort. The 6’7″, 217-pound guard is averaging 14.2 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 2.7 assists per game. He is also shooting nearly 40% from three-point range (39.7%) and is a 91.5% free-throw shooter.
While Flagg’s injury, at worst, could keep him out of the rest of the conference tournament, this is an excellent opportunity for Knueppel to show head coach Jon Scheyer and Co. that he can handle more responsibilities. At full strength, Duke can beat anybody in the country on any court, but without Flagg, they are a lot more formidable.
Time will tell if Knueppel has anything to say about that, but judging by the family he was raised in, he has a great chance to succeed as the team’s No. 1 option.
