Fordham’s search for a new head coach to replace recently fired Keith Urgo is reportedly over. The Rams, under the leadership of new athletic director Charles Guthrie, are set to hire Kent State coach Rob Senderhoff, sources have told basketball insider Adam Zagoria.

Rams get their man in Senderhoff
Senderoff, a New York native who graduated from the University at Albany in 1995 and served as a student assistant manager for the basketball team there, returns to his home state after guiding Kent State to a 288-176 (.621) record over 14 seasons.
The Golden Flashes won the 2014-2015 regular season Mid-American Conference title and reached the NCAA Tournament twice after winning the conference tournament in 2017 and 2023.
After a 23-11 campaign in 2021-2022, Senderoff was named the MAC Coach of the Year. His teams won 20 or more games nine times and never posted a losing record under Senderoff.
The Golden Flashes went 92-47 the past four seasons, including 24-12 and 11-7 in the MAC this season. Kent State was selected to the NIT and defeated both St. Bonaventure and Stanford before falling to Loyola Chicago in the quarterfinals.
Senderoff had previously served as an assistant at Kent State from 2002-2006 under Jim Christian and an associate head coach under Geno Ford from 2008-2011 before taking over the reins of the program in 2011.
He now heads to Fordham, where he served as an assistant from 1997-1999.

He replaces Urko, who went 50-49 in the Bronx but just 25-41 the past two seasons. In 2022-23, Urko posted a 25-8 record, the most wins at the school in 32 years, and the Rams went 12-6 in the Atlantic 10.
The team went just 9-27 in conference play the past two seasons and finished dead last with a 3-12 Atlantic 10 record this year. Fordham has not been to the NCAA Tournament since 1992.
