Vanderbilt guard Karris Bilal entered the transfer portal 13 minutes after the team’s season ended in March Madness.
The freshman committed to Vanderbilt under former head coach Jerry Stackhouse and stayed on board for Mark Byington’s debut season. Bilal never saw the court and reportedly didn’t travel for games, only practicing with the team during a redshirt season.
Here are five potential landing spots for the Vanderbilt guard.

Top Five Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Vanderbilt Guard Karris Bilal
Xavier
The Musketeers and head coach Sean Miller recruited Bilal out of high school. With senior guard Dayvion McKnight headed out the door with expiring eligibility, there will be at least one spot to fill. However, Bilal may have to fight for minutes, with Ryan Conwell and Dailyn Swain still slated to start.
Georgia State
The Panthers were the only team to recruit Bilal out of high school. The team struggled this season and could look to departing Power 4 talent to fill some gaps. Heading to Georgia State could give him a chance to get some more playing time and eventually work his way back to a Power 4 school.
Georgia Tech
Three of the Yellow Jackets’ top five guards were seniors this year, including leading scorer Lance Terry, who should have opened some space on the roster. With Bilal hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, he could look to get closer to home.
Georgia
If Bilal wants to head back to Georgia, he could opt for the Bulldogs instead. The Bulldogs will lose two senior guards this offseason, and head coach Mike White could look for the portal to fill those empty slots.
Iowa
The Hawkeyes were ravaged by the portal, losing guards Brock Harding and Josh Dix, as well as Drew Thelwell, to eligibility.

Iowa will surely look back to the portal to retool its roster, and it could look towards Bilal to take its talents to the Big Ten.
