The transfer portal is about to get one of the country’s most underrated point guards.
According to insider Jeff Goodman, Southeastern Louisiana guard Jakevion Buckley plans to enter the transfer portal.

Jakevion Buckley’s Experience
Not many all-conference players on both ends of the court end up in the transfer portal every day.
Southeastern Louisiana guard Jakevion Buckley plans to enter the transfer portal, his agent Tyler Nielson told @TheFieldOf68.

In Buckley’s case, that is exactly the case. A first-team All-Southland player on the offensive and defensive end of the court, Buckley averaged 14.5 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game this year.
He also shot a career-best 46% from the field this year, which isn’t always common among point guards. Now, the question is whether or not teams will go after him in the portal.
Given that he has been around the block and increased his production every single year since his days at Lamar, the chances of him getting a handful of suitors are extremely high.
Where Could Buckley End Up?
There are a handful of teams in the country that could use an experienced point guard, but here are the five likeliest destinations for the Texas native.
Syracuse Orange
The Syracuse Orange could be in need of a talented point guard to go alongside veteran JJ Starling.
Starling, a former transfer himself, is capable of averaging double figures, and adding another quality scorer next to him could take the Orange to a whole other level.
Virginia Cavaliers
The Virginia program is going through some changes as they recently parted ways with head coach Ron Sanchez.
To combat some of that changeover and smooth things out, a veteran point guard like Buckley could be a wise addition.
Indiana Hoosiers
In a similar situation, the Hoosiers will be looking for a new head coach this off-season, with Mike Woodson stepping down.
Bringing in a versatile, veteran point guard like Buckley can help the new head coach, whoever that might be, find their way
North Carolina Tar Heels
Point guard RJ Davis will soon be leaving the program, which means head coach Hubert Davis will have an opening at the point.
Why not bring in another veteran who has a chip on his shoulder?

Creighton Bluejays
Point guard Steven Ashworth has had a remarkable career in Omaha for Greg McDermott but will be moving on after this season.
If McDermott wants another quality two-way player in charge of his backcourt, Buckley might be that guy.
