His wife, Crystal Oats, and his three daughters, Lexie, Jocie, and Brielle, have been a vital component of his journey, offering love, resilience, and motivation through the ups and downs of life and coaching.
Nate and Crystal Oats’ love story started at Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, Wisconsin. Both attended the Division III university, where Nate began his coaching career as an assistant in 1997.
Their similar interests in school, sports, and faith became the foundations of an eternal partnership.
After finishing their education, the couple raised a family, while Nate’s coaching career developed from high school basketball in Michigan to leading a powerhouse program at the University of Alabama.
Crystal remained an unwavering ally throughout, managing family life and their shared goals.
Crystal Oats: A Story of Strength and Resilience
Crystal was diagnosed with a severe form of lymphoma in 2015, which proved a big struggle for the Oats family. Crystal, with great resilience, underwent intense chemotherapy treatments. Throughout this time, she was a source of support for her family, symbolizing courage and determination.
Lexie, the eldest daughter, is currently studying at the University of Alabama. Her presence on campus not only emphasizes her academic goals but also reinforces the family’s connection to the university.
The younger daughters, Jocie and Brielle, are still in their formative years, managing school and family life. Raising in a sports-oriented household, they developed a strong interest in basketball, frequently accompanying their parents to games and spending time together as a family.
